House of the Devil certainly can make the cut as a perfect Saturday night scary movie. Its a very simple story about a college girl babysitter, creepy house and a full moon.. oh yeah and it takes place in the 80's (COOL!).
Times and money are tough for Samantha (Jocelin Donahue) so she gets a babysitting job working for the creepiest and most obvious evil couple ever. After the creepy couple leaves for the night she decides to do some house exploring. Samantha eventually discovers that she is being setup for a horrific satanic ritual which coincides with a full moon that evening. There a few good jumps and some fairly good gore. Jocelin Donahue's acting is what really sells this horror flick, she's on screen for the majority of the movie and seems to have a bright future ahead of her.
The House of the devil isn't the scariest movie I have ever watched but it definitely has a creep factor to it. Ti West is quickly becoming one of my favorite horror film directors, with movies like The Innkeepers, You're Next and V/H/S he is a can't miss when it comes to deciding what to watch.
Um... Yeah sure I'll take the job even tho you'll probably try to kill me later.. where's the $$$
